Maintenance
- Prevents pressure differences in the pipes
- Prevents pump overload
- Flow noise is reduced
When installing an underfloor heating system, it's important to consider whether or not a pressure relief valve (also known as a bypass) should be installed. We recommend always installing a bypass, regardless of the other configuration of the central heating system.
A bypass prevents the pressure in the pipes from rising too high. When there's less heat demand because thermostatic valves are closed, a pressure difference can occur between the supply and return pipes. A spring-loaded bypass is activated when the pressure in one of the pipes becomes too high to prevent potential damage to the pipes.
NB
If there's no bypass valve installed, there must always be at least one radiator with a regular tap. This tap must always be open to ensure the flow of hot water.
